New BC Child Restraint Laws
Effective July 1, 2008 - British Columbias government has amended the child restraint laws.
Infant Seats (Rear-Facing)
- must be used until a child is at least 1 year old and 20 lbs (9 kg.)
Child Seats (Forward-Facing)
- mandatory for children 1 years old and between 20-40 lbs (9-18 kg.)
Booster Seats
- mandatory for all children who weigh 40 lbs + (18kg) until they are 4ft, 9 inch (145cm) or 9 years old.
Failure to comply with these laws will result in a fine for $109.00 CDN issued by the government.
